Job Summary:


John Deere Service Technicians are the backbone of our company and responsible for ensuring our growers are confident in their equipment. Our customer know we will do what it takes to keep them in the field and moving forward. As a Shop Foreman, you will assist in coordinating and directing the workload of the Service Department for maximum efficiency and productivity while providing quality repair work.

As a Shop Foreman, you will:


  • Assist with the assignment of jobs and work areas to Service Department employees according to their skills and knowledge
  • Assist in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the Service Department and may participate in repairs.
  • Review repair orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Direct and assist in the diagnosis of machine problems
  • Advises Service Manager of all customer concerns
  • Coordinate and schedule all in-house technician training
  • Assist the Service Manager with coordinating and conducting safety meetings
  • May fill the Service Manager role in their absence
  • May arrange for and participate in re-conditioning of used equipment and set-up of new equipment
  • Assist in providing performance feedback for service technicians
  • Participate in John Deere Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
  • Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs in a timely manner.
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Operates and maintains vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


  • 2+ years of experience as a Service Technician (minimum)
  • 3+ years of experience in Service Department operations (preferred)
  • Ability to leads others and to build teamwork
  • Familiar with John Deere and competitive products
  • Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as MS Office and internet functions
  • Basic understanding of financial principles relative to Service Department operations
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends
  • Forklift license and current certification preferred
